Amelia Lodge No. 101 was chartered December 15, 1875. Cornelious Creed Farley, a member of Farmville Lodge No. 41, Prince Edward County, Virginia, organized it. J. W. Dance, Crewe Lodge No. 123, Nottaway County, Virginia and L. C. Butler, also of Farmville Lodge No. 41, assisted Brother Farley.

Amelia Lodge No. 101 was preceded in Amelia County by four other lodges, Painville Lodge No. 51, Painville, Virginia, 1797-1809, Harmony Lodge No. 62, Pridesville, Virginia, 1800-1802, Amelia Lodge No. 97, Painville, Virginia, 1814-1819, and Amelia-Washington Lodge, No. 131, Jeteresville, Virginia, 1823-1837.

At a called communication held on December 6, 1975, to celebrate the one Hundredth Anniversary of the Amelia Lodge there were present 48 members and guests representing fifteen Lodges.

Amelia Lodge No. 101 is proud to have had two of its members serve as Grand Master of Masons in Virginia. Joseph W. Eggleston, 1908-1909, and George W. Farley, 1990-1991.  It should be noted that Brother George W. Farley, in 1985, served simultaneously as the Worshipful Master of Amelia Lodge No. 101, District Deputy Grand Master and Grand Junior Deacon of the Grand Lodge of Virginia.

The Lodge met in various locations and was first recorded as meeting in the present hall, which it now owns in 1937. In 1988, a lot was purchased in anticipation of building a new Lodge hall.  Most Worshipful James B. Wilkinson, Grand Master of Masons in Virginia, laid the cornerstone of the new Lodge on September 14, 1996.
