Arlington Lodge No. 102, A.F. & A.M.
Millers Tavern. Virginia
This Lodge received its charter in 1869 and met first in Walkerton, Virginia in King and Queen County. From January 29, 1869 until April 24, 1891 the Lodge met at eight different locations in Essex as well as King and Queen Counties.
From April 1891, until the present the Lodge has met at Millers Tavern, Virginia in Essex County. The land, a house, furniture and rugs for the present site were purchased for $80.00. On January 24, 1896, a building committee was appointed to formulate plans and estimates for a new building. On July 9, 1897, a bid of $1,155.00 was accepted for construction of a new building. This building, completed in December 1897, is the present Masonic temple.
The Lodge's stated meetings are conducted on the Friday evening on or before the full moon, thus being one of the few Lodges in Virginia still known as a "moon Lodge."
It is also a "knife and fork" Lodge with dinners served at all stated communications.
Macon Ware Lodge No. 192 in Falls Church is named after a member of Arlington Lodge No. 102.
