At a stated communication on January 7, 1927, E. L. Bass Construction Company of Richmond Virginia, was awarded the contract in the amount of $20,000.00 to build a new Masonic building. The cornerstone was laid on July 4, 1927. This building was destroyed by fire on January 2, 1963, following a fire and explosion in an adjoining building. A duplicate charter was issued on January 9, 1963. Meetings were held in the Annex Building of Southside Electric Cooperative until the completion of the present Masonic building, which was built at a cost of $90,000.00.
