Fort Hunt-Skidmore Daytime Lodge No. 353 A.F. & A.M.
Springfield, Virginia
Fort Hunt Daytime Lodge No. 353, A. F. & A. M. was formed to help meet a need of the older/ retired Masons living in the Belleview/ Mount Vernon/ Fort Belvoir area of Fairfax County. Many of these brethren enjoy the fellowship of the Masonic Lodge and for that reason alone Fort Hunt Daytime Lodge No. 353 was created.
A
dispensation for Fort Hunt Daytime Lodge, U. D. was granted by Most Worshipful
Lloyd Ulrich Jefferson in February 1982 and the lodge charter granted at Grand
Lodge on February 15, 1983.
Although
only four candidates have been raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason;
the Lodge enjoys a good reputation for fellowship and turns out between 40 to
60 Masons at its stated meetings. The
Lodge has one stated meeting per month generally with a guest speaker, the
necessary business followed by a light lunch served by the brethren. The fellowship is excellent and many of the
brethren visit the other daylight lodge in the Northern Virginia area and also
visit Manasseh Lodge No. 182, in Manassas that holds a daylight meeting each
month.
The
lodge meets in the Mount Vernon Masonic Temple, 8717 Fort Hunt Road in the
Mount Vernon district of historical Fairfax County; on the original land tract
of Brother George Washington. The stated
meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 11:00 A.M.
